Chad Sweatman is currently serving his 2nd term as a member of Town Council. He is a life-long resident of the community and a small business owner.
During his time on Council, Mr. Sweatman has been a vocal proponent of smart growth in Moncks Corner. With Moncks Corner experiencing a similar growth pattern of its surrounding communities, Mr. Sweatman understands that growth is inevitable and necessary. He contends that careful decisions and considerations have to be taken into account to maintain what Moncks Corner means to him, and that is the Lowcountry’s Hometown theme.
Mr. Sweatman, a licensed Certified Public Accountant (‘CPA’), owns and operates his practice on Main Street in Moncks Corner. His practice was established in 2007 and he currently serves clients local and far. In addition to his CPA practice, Mr. Sweatman is an active commercial real estate investor. His experience in business, accounting, and real estate has provided him invaluable knowledge to help link local government with the pulse of Moncks Corner’s small business community.
Mr. Sweatman graduated from the Municipal Elected Officials Institute through the Municipal Association of South Carolina (‘MASC’) in 2017. Mr. Sweatman also graduated from the Advanced Municipal Elected Officials Institute through MASC in 2022. Currently, Mr. Sweatman is attending Advanced Continuing Education through MASC to stay abreast of current legislative developments at the state level that could impact the Town.
In addition to his governmental education, Mr. Sweatman is a graduate of Berkeley High School. He received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from The College of Charleston and his Masters of Business Administration from The Citadel.
Mr. Sweatman considers his greatest accomplishment in life to be that of a husband and father to his wife (Erin) and daughters (Kaylin and Gracyn). As a Councilman, Mr. Sweatman considers the trajectory of the Town with not only his family in mind, but the many other families and businesses that he represents.
